The shocking moment a teen throws her cat from a third-floor balcony emerges as she is charged with animal cruelty

A shocking video shows a New Jersey woman throwing a cat from the third floor of a balcony while someone laughs in the background. The clip, which surfaced on social media Saturday, shows how the cat fell three stories onto the sidewalk, ending his fall alive but completely immobile on the concrete. The woman and at least one other person can be heard giggling as the poor pet goes flying into the air. A 19-year-old woman was arrested Saturday and charged with animal cruelty after a concerned citizen alerted authorities about the footage, NJ.com reported. Police believe Tikeemah J Lassiter, of Clinton, is the woman in the video. Lassiter is accused of throwing someone else's cat through the window Thursday while visiting family in Newark.

The footage ends shortly after the cat lands on the sidewalk, staying completely still just a few feet away from the road. The feline survived and now needs to be examined by a veterinarian before it finds a new home. The video, according to city Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, was filmed on the 300 block of Newark's South Orange Avenue. The cat is now in the care of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a law enforcement agency that investigates cases of animal cruelty. The law enforcement agency will decide where to place the cat after a veterinarian evaluates its health.
